Monarch of the Glen Country at Highland Holiday Cottages

Monarch Of The Glen

The very successful BBC TV and Ecosse Films series was filmed in and around the area, with locations dotted here and there. Ardverikie House, just south of nearby Laggan has achieved fame as Glenbogle House, whilst the steam trains of the Strathspey Steam Railway regularly haul in to Glenbogle Station - in real life better known as Broomhill.

Glenbogle Castle in Monarch of the Glen is in fact Ardverikie House, on the shores of Loch Laggan, some 4 miles south west of  Crubenbeg Highland Holiday Cottages. The house and grounds are private, and although access on foot to the wild landscapes of Scotland is permitted, it is not possible, except for one day per year, when the grounds are open under Scotland's garden scheme, to take your car along the private estate road to the house. Ardverikie can, however, be seen very well from the main A86 road from Newtonmore to Spean Bridge on the other side of the Loch.

The cast & crew were staying at Crubeneg Highland Holiday Cotatges, for more info click -
